Nongovernment organizations (NGOs)

Under the Magna Carta of the Poor, nongovernment organizations (NGOs) are duly registered nonstock, nonprofit organizations focusing on the upliftment of the basic sectors of society by providing advocacy, training, community organizing, research, access to resources, protection of the environment and conservation of natural resources and other similar activities. Under the Credit Surety Fund Cooperative Act of 2015, a nongovernment organization (NGO) is a nonstock, nonprofit organization duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), focusing on the upliftment of the basic or disadvantaged sectors of society by providing advocacy, training, community organizing, research, access to resources, provision of microfinance programs and services, or other similar activities. Under the Microfinance NGOs Act, a nongovernment organization (NGO) is a nonstock, nonprofit organization duly registered with the SEC, focusing on the upliftment of the basic or disadvantaged sectors of society by providing advocacy, training, community organizing, research, access to resources, and other similar activities, as defined in Republic Act No. 8425, otherwise known as the “Social Reform and Poverty Alleviation Act”.
